The City of Perry has taken the first step toward securing a state inmate work crew needed to resume mowing and maintaining Woodlawn Cemetery and other labor-intensive projects around the city.
During a public hearing on the proposed budget for 2021-22 at the city’s Sept. 14 meeting, City Manager Taylor Brown informed the city council he had signed a contract with the Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) to allow the city to train a city employee to oversee a state inmate work crew.
