Seat will remain vacant until 2022

The Perry City Council will apparently be forced to operate with just four council members for more than a year, as language contained in the city charter does not allow the seat left vacant by the death of District 3 Councilman Mike Deming to be filled until November 2022.

Responding to a request from Perry Newspapers, City Attorney Ray Curtis prepared a memorandum detailing the process of filling the vacant council seat.
