Vasco Otto Murray, 87, passed away on Sept. 22, 2021, in Gainesville.He was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Mayo to Robert Otto Murray and Hazel Inez Land Murray.Vasco honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Baptist and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Vasco worked with Procter & Gamble as a forestry research technician for more than 35 years.He loved the outdoors – hunting, fishing and scuba diving were among his many passions.Vasco was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Otto Murray and Hazel Inez Land Murray, and his brother, Kenneth Elwis Murray.He is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Martha Murray; his son, Joshua Driggers; his two daughters, Tessa Santiago and Andrea Murray; one sister, Bobbie Murray; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at Wayfare Cemetery with Brother Charlie Walker officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 1370 North Hwy. 51, Mayo, FL 32066.All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
