    John Edwin “Ed” Shaw

    John Edwin “Ed” Shaw, 58, passed away on September 27, 2021, in Perry, FL. Ed was born October 25, 1962, in Perry, Florida to John O. Shaw and Nancy Ruth Poppell Shaw.

    He was of the Assembly of God faith and was a member of First Assembly of God of Perry, his entire life, and where he served as an usher. Ed will be remembered by many, for being a longtime welder with his father and brothers at Shaw’s Welding Inc. He enjoyed hunting and spear fishing and was a lifetime member of Camp Misery Hunting Club and Second Chance Hunting Club. The best times he had was being with his family and friends, enjoying cookouts and sharing old stories.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Ruth Poppell Shaw, his paternal grandparents John W. and Minnie Shaw, and maternal grandparents, Hughey and Lula Bell Poppell.

    Ed is survived by his wife of 14 years, Dena Shaw; his daughter Jennifer Shaw, his son John W. Shaw, and step son William Hockaday; his father John Shaw; brothers, Martin (Paula) Shaw, and Gilbert (Irene) Shaw; 4 grandchildren, Kalob, Kaden, Kolton, and Raeleigh ; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

    Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 10:00 AM at First Assembly of God of Perry with Rev. David Stephens and Rev. Charles Carlton officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
