County extends 6¢ local option gas tax

At a special meeting last week, the Taylor County Commission voted unanimously to extend the county’s current six-cent local option gas tax through 2026.

The commission held a public hearing on Thursday, Sept. 30, to consider extending the local gas tax, which at six cents is tied with 11 other Florida counties for the lowest in the state, according to the Florida Department of Revenue (DOR).
