Jospeh ‘Joe’ Conley Wood

Joseph “Joe” Conley Wood, 72, of Perry passed away on Sept, 28, 2021 from a heart condition.

His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.

Joe was born on Nov. 11, 1948, to Joseph Earl Wood and Avis Jeanette (Fuller) Wood in Charleston, S.C.

After Joe graduated from Northeast High School in St. Petersburg in 1966, he joined the United States Coast Guard from 1968 to 1971, where he served on the USCGC Dauntless at the rank of Electronics Technician 2nd Class and received the National Defense Service Medal.

After the Coast Guard, he continued his career at AT&T as a field technician kickstarting a 31-year career in telecommunications.

Joe spent the majority of his career in Florida, but also spent time in California and Arizona while with AT&T.
