    Posted on October 8, 2021

Get your running shoes ready, because the annual “Jogging for Jugs” 5K returns to Steinhatchee this weekend.

“Jogging for Jugs” is scheduled to host a weekend fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 8, and Saturday, Oct. 9, at Kathi’s Krab Shack after a one-year haitus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, Kathi’s Krab Shack will serve fish dinners on behalf of the local non-profit’s #FINDACURE breast cancer awareness program.

The fish dinners will include fish, fries and coleslaw while supplies last.

Live music will begin at 8 p.m., with Valdosta’s Wrong Turn Band taking the stage.

During the evening, guests are encouraged to participate in cornhole games for $5 per individual and $10 per team.

Friday will also serve as a designated pre-registration time for the Jogging for Jugs 5K.

The #FINDACURE activities will continue on Saturday, Oct. 9, with the Steinhatchee Community Center opening to joggers at 7 a.m.

The 5K jog will begin at 9 a.m. in front of the American Legion. The finish line will be set up at the Steinhatchee Community Center. The route will be marked.

Pink pancakes will be served at 9:30 a.m., along with coffee and fruit, for $6 while supplies last. There will be no charge for the 5K participants.

Registration for the annual golf cart poker run will open at 10 a.m. at the Steinhatchee Community Center, with the poker run beginning at 11 a.m.

Vinyl Refuge will serve as Saturday’s live entertainment, taking the stage at 1:30 p.m.

Throughout Saturday afternoon, the winners of the golf cart poker run and the cornhole games will be announced.

There will also be items available for auction, including stained-glass home decor, assorted gift baskets, blankets, gift certificates and more.

“Our goal for Jogging for Jugs is to continue to grow this event so that we may help fight all cancer, celebrate survivors, support those in the fight of their life and lastly, to honor those who have lost the battle to this horrible disease,” Jogging for Jugs President Ursula Miller said.
