Eddie Lee Hawkins Sr., the son of the late Elder Willie James Hawkins Jr. and Lillie Blackshear Griffin, transitioned on Oct. 2, 2021, at the Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee.
Eddie confessed Christ at an early age, loved his children and family unconditionally, attended Jerkins High School and retired from Joe Robert’s Lumber Company.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Peggy Fishburn-Hawkins; five children, Samantha Jones-Barnes, Eddie L. Hawkins Jr., Willie L. Hawkins (Pearl), Shacarra Hawkins and Gherri Hawkins; nine grandchildren, Shaina Barnes, Ira Barnes Jr., Keera Washington, Anthony Washington, Kieshunna Hamilton, Tyler Washington, Dayari Hawkins, Dmarquez Hawkins and Dashari Hawkins; two great-grandchildren, Kalyan Barnes and Kyran Barnes; two brothers, Curtis Hawkins and Rickie E. Hawkins; and seven sisters, Annie L. Brooks, Mary A. Kilpatrick, Emma J. Hawkins, Dorothy Hawkins, Willie M. Hawkins, Cheryl Hawkins and Chaplain Leaneze Hawkins-Dozier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 5-6 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. at Springhill Cemetery.
In order to adhere to CDC protocols, face masks are required for the safety of everyone who attends the visitation and graveside service.
