It is no marvel that the pulpit is so powerless, and ministers so often disheartened when there are so few to hold up their hands…When the churches cease to pray for ministers, ministers will no longer be a blessing to the churches.” (Gardiner Spring, 1785-1873) ➟ Please see page 8 Steven Anthony DeSoiza Sr., 58, passed away on Sept. 27, 2021 in O’Brien. He was born Jan. 21, 1963, in Nassau, N.Y., to Anthony Joseph DeSoiza and Dorthy Jane Phillips DeSoiza. Steven was of the Kelly Pierce Kelly Pierce Kelly Pierce was a loving, mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her animals and dreamed of one day living on a sailboat. She is greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was born on March 15, 1984, and died on Sept. 5, 2021. Christian faith, and he worked in the construction industry as a concrete f inisher for more than 45 years. He loved fishing and long motorcycle rides on his “hog.” But, most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Joseph DeSoiza and Dorthy Jane Phillips DeSoiza, and his wife, Wanda Gail Desoiza. Steven is survived by his son, Steven and his wife, Kathryn Desoiza of Perry, and three grandchildren, Justice, Liberty and Anthony Desoiza. A celebration of life services will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at his residence (20037 89th Street, O’Brien) from 1-5 p.m.
