New fire station cost $600,000 over budget

Progress on constructing a new county fire station north of Perry hit a major snag this week after the two bids received for the project were more than double the available state-provided funds.

The Florida Legislature allocated $580,000 for Taylor County to design and construct the new fire station that local officials plan to construct on a county-owned parcel located on Pisgah Road.
