Social Security benefits rise 5.9%

Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive a 5.9% annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in 2022 — the largest increase since 1982.

Beginning January 2022, the 5.9% COLA will boost some 64 million beneficiaries’ monthly payments by $92.
