    $4,000 bonuses for teachers unlocked

    The Taylor County School District has received approval to move forward with paying nearly $1.2 million in retention/incentive bonuses to its instructional and non-instructional employees.

    The district had previously announced the bonuses – $4,000 each for teachers and $1,550 each for non-instructional employees – would be disbursed in early October, but that timeline came and went without checks being sent out after the district failed to receive the “award letter” from the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) needed to unlock the federal CARES Act dollars being used to underwrite the bonuses.
