    Perry Women’s Club will welcome Goodman as speaker Nov. 10

    Author and historian Dr. Josh Goodman will be the special guest speaker at the Wednesday, Nov. 10, meeting of the Perry Women’s Club, beginning at noon.

    Goodman recently published his first book, “Forest Capital: A History of Taylor County, Florida.”

    A sixth-generation Taylor Countian, Goodman holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Florida State University and a doctorate in history from Tulane University in New Orleans, La.

    He is an archives historian with the State Archives of Florida.

    All members are encouraged to attend.

    Interested persons are welcome to attend as a member’s guest.

    A covered dish lunch will be served.

    President Nancy Hendry reminds members to also bring their peanut butter donations for the county extension’s Peanut Butter Challenge.

    She also announced that the club will hold a Cake Sale Monday, Nov. 15, at Ragans Ace Hardware.

    Bidding will be available online and in person. Available items will include baked goods and one-dish meals.

    Members will also be hosting a Pancake Supper in conjunction with the upcoming “Christmas on the Square” coordinated by the Taylor County Historical Society. Nelda Pace is chairing the event.

    The supper will be held on Friday, Dec. 3. Dinners (take-out only) will be served at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, and tickets will be $5 each.

    Vendor applications are being accepted for the club’s annual Christmas Bazaar, which will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the club house, located on North Jefferson Street.

    Shawna Beach is serving as chair of the bazaar.

    “New members are always welcome. Our annual dues are $25, and we meet the second Wednesday of each month,” Hendry said.
