Post 291 will host Veterans Day event

    Posted on November 5, 2021

Steinhatchee’s American Legion Post 291 will host a Veterans Day observance and unveil a new brick walkway — the Walk of Honor and Remembrance — on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.

Commander Jimmy Dietrich invites all veterans and members of Post 291, as well as the community, to come and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Veterans Day.

“Our special thanks to member Jim Knight of Knight’s Brick and Tile for laying the walkway bricks. Thank you to members Mike and Susan Williams of Team Williams Printing for engraving the bricks,” Dietrich said of the brick “Walk of Honor and Remembrance.”

Brick donations are ongoing, with installation dates based on lots of 25 to 30 bricks. All funds from the donations of the bricks go back to the community through the American Legion Post.

“Stop by the Legion and fill out the application with the information you want on your brick, and we’ll take it from there!” Dietrich said.

    Donations are $50 per brick.

American Legion Post 291 is located at 220 11th Street SE in Steinhatchee.
