County regains DOC inmate work squad

Taylor County officials will soon once again have the services of an inmate work squad from the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) for the first time since the state agency rescinded all of its squads earlier this year due to staff shortages.

While the inmates providing the labor will be from Taylor Correctional Institution (TCI), the officers overseeing the squad will be employed by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), under a new interlocal agreement approved by the Taylor County Commission at its Monday, Nov. 1, meeting.
