TCPS raising funds for a book vending machine

Taylor County Primary School (TCPS) has launched a DonorsChoose project to help fund a book vending machine for the school.

“DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows individuals and corporations to donate to projects for classrooms and schools,” first grade teacher Pam Blue said.

“Since their founding in 2005, they have helped fund over one million classroom and schoolwide projects.

“We have students from ages six weeks old to second grade. Having a book vending machine that allows all students to purchase books with gold tokens they have earned through reaching positive behavior goals, reading goals, work ethic, good character, etc., will be a powerful tool to motivate students to be the very best they can be both behaviorally and academically,” Blue said.

“Being able to reward students with books rather than insignificant trinkets will foster a love of reading and lifelong commitment to learning.

“This is a very big project, and we know it will take the support of the entire community to see it to fruition,” Blue said.
