At the suggestion of Mayor Alan Hall, the City of Perry will seek outside opinions to determine if a special election can be held to fill the city council seat left vacant by the death of Councilman Mike Deming.
At the conclusion of the city council’s Nov. 10 meeting, Hall suggested the council request an opinion from the Florida Attorney General and Taylor County Supervisor of Elections Dana Southerland to determine the legality of holding a special election rather than being forced to wait until the November 2022 general election to fill the seat.
