When you start to fill your holiday wish list this year, the chamber of commerce and downtown businesses invite you to “shop small.”
Dozens of local businesses will be taking part in the annual “Small Business Saturday” on Nov. 27, with drawings for gift baskets, free giveaways and more.
Heather and Dean Schwarz, owners of Moss and Magnolia, located at the Train Depot, are serving as this year’s “Neighborhood Champion” for the 2021 “Small Business Saturday’’ hosted by American Express.
“We will have a ‘Welcome Station’ located at the Train Depot, where shoppers can pick up their tote bag for shopping, with a list of participating businesses, some goodies and coupons from your place of business if you wish to include them. Each business will have raffle tickets to share with their customers. For every $10 they spend they will get one raffle ticket ($100 = 10 raffle tickets). At the end of the day, your customers can come back to the welcome station by 4 p.m. to drop off their tickets for a chance to win one of the gift baskets,” Heather Schwarz said.
Super-Pufft has donated snacks that will be shared with each shopping tote, and Sheriff Wayne Padgett and Moss and Magnolia have donated bottled water for the totes.
Habitat for Humanity will have a booth set up offering $5 raffle tickets to win a photo session from Photos & Frames (a $160 value).
