    William Arthur ‘Art’ Lewis

    William Arthur “Art” Lewis, 79, passed away on Nov. 23, 2021, in Tallahassee.

    Art was born Nov. 11, 1942, in Perry to Dennett B. Lewis and Annie V. Reams Lewis.

    He honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. Art was a Baptist and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Eridu, where he served with the kitchen crew for all church functions and taught children’s church with his wife, Nell, for several years.

    Art was an electrical planner for Watkins Engineering and Fru-Con for many years.

    He was a lifetime member of the Sons of the Confederacy, and was instrumental in having the flag and monument placed on U.S. 19. He loved to maintain and keep a nice yard.

    Art was preceded in death by his parents, Dennett and Annie Lewis, and a grandson, Evan Lewis.

    He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Nell Earline Lewis; his sons, Kevin (Gigi) Lewis and Shane (Susie) Lewis; four grandchildren, Charlie, Missy, Halia and Zachary; and his sisters, Katherine Brown and Helen Lightcap; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 29, at noon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Brother Danny Lundy officiating. The family received friends prior to the service, from 11 a.m. To noon, at the church.
