Floyd Henry “Buddy” Odom Jr., 87, passed away on Dec. 4, 2021, at his residence in Perry.
Buddy was born May 18, 1934, in San Pedro Bay in Taylor County to Floyd Henry Odom Sr. and Alva Lee Poppell Odom.
He was a Baptist and a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church.
Buddy worked in the construction industry as a pipe fitter and welder for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the Perry Elks Club and the Taylor County Horsemen’s Association.
Buddy was an avid outdoorsman – he loved hunting and spending time in the woods. One of his many passions was his love for horses.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Floyd Henry Odom Sr. and Alva Lee Poppell Odom; his infant son, Gregory Mitchell Odom; and his sister, Jackie Odom Rogers.
Buddy is survived by: his wife of 31 years, Lyn Odom; his son, Bucky Odom; his two daughters, Lisa and her husband, Michael Crews, and Vickie and her husband, Wade Smith; two grandchildren, David and his wife, Katie Crews, and Lyndsey and her husband, Loyd Palmer; and four great-grandchildren, Tripp and Grady Crews, Sophie Linn and Braylen Palmer
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 3:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Brother Ben Kimmell and Brother Eddie Pridgeon officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-3:30 p.m. At the church.
