Fundraiser to benefit Habitat’s current build

    Posted on December 10, 2021

Taylor County Habitat for Humanity will host a “Christmas at Rosehead Park” fundraising event on Saturday, Dec. 18, to help complete a new house build in Steinhatchee.

Everyone is invited to Rosehead Park downtown from 2-6 p.m. to create ornaments, meet Santa Claus, enjoy a delicious breakfast, hot chocolate bar and more.

“Children can play in a bounce house, compliments of Bounce It Up. The more adventurous can enjoy a pony ride for $5 provided by Gigi’s Party Ponies,” Executive Director Karol Newport Barr said.

“Then they can have their photos made with Santa. Mrs. Claus and the elves will be making an appearance as well,” she said.

Children and adults alike can create their own ornaments to compete in a Facebook contest, with the winner receiving a “Christmas surprise.”

Adults will be allowed to create their own version of the popular cold weather drink at a “hot chocolate bar.”

Sunshine’s Craft Icery will offer coffee, Belgian waffles and more for those who are hungry.

“We look forward to having lots of fun in the holiday spirit while raising money,” Barr said.

“There will also be many other activities, as local sponsors are joining in the fun every day. The sponsors are providing services or donations from the $50 level up to $500,” she said.

All money raised will be used to complete the home being constructed in Steinhatchee.

“We had hoped to have it completed for Christmas, but material delivery delays and short funds have slowed us down,” Barr explained.

Anyone interested in volunteering to install insulation, put up drywall, hang light fixtures and doors, or interior work, is urged to call the Habitat office at (850) 584-3838.
