Barbara Ann ‘Bobbie’ Murphy

Barbara Ann Murphy, 78, passed away on Dec. 15, 2021, at her home in Perry, surrounded by her family. Bobbie was born Aug. 29, 1943, in Mississippi to Wilburn Straughn and Mary Thompson Straughn.Mrs. Murphy was a Baptist and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and loved singing in the choir. She enjoyed bowling in her younger days, and enjoyed passing the time by crocheting, making afghans, booties and dolls for her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Granny, and her favorite thing was spoiling her grandkids and great-grandkidsBobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Mary Straughn, and sister, Linda Shiver.Mrs. Murphy is survived by: her husband of 60 years, Billy Murphy; children, Debbie Calhoun and fiancée John McDonald and Billy Wayne and Valerie Murphy; five grandchildren, Trey Holton, Lydia (Terry) Forehand, Megan, Grace and Caroline Murphy; and seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kyler, Savannah, Jaylyn, Trenton, Addison and Chasin; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Brother Keith Parker officiating.
