With the 90-day window on their initial appointment about to expire, the Taylor County School Board voted Tuesday to re-appoint Paul Dyal as interim school superintendent – effective until Gov. Ron DeSantis announces an appointment for the post or until the 2022 General Election.
Under a newly-adopted policy, in the event a sitting superintendent is suspended or the office is vacated, the local school board can “designate a person to perform the functions of the superintendent until the governor appoints a person to fill the office provided by law, or the period of suspension or vacancy ends as provided by law, whichever occurs first. Such designation may be revoked by the school board at any time.”
