After learning moving up a special election would cost a minimum of $17,000 and potentially speed up the process by only two or three months, the Perry City Council agreed by consensus to wait until the regular 2022 election cycle to fill the seat left vacant by the death of former City Councilman Mike Deming.
At the suggestion of Mayor Alan Hall last month, the City of Perry agreed to seek an outside legal opinion to determine if a special election could be held earlier to fill the District 3 seat left vacant by Deming, who died on Sept. 21.
