    Cheryl Robertson Weiss

    Posted on December 29, 2021

Cheryl Robertson Weiss, 68, died after a strenuous battle with cancer on Dec. 23, 2021.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Robertson, and leaves behind her devoted husband of 47 years, Karl Weiss.

She also leaves her only brother, Ronnie Robertson; a daughter, Courtney; her grand-dog, Berkeley; and friends that have become family over the years.

Cheryl was born on Dec. 27, 1952, in Augusta, Ga. The family moved to Perry when she was a toddler and Cheryl quickly became a Taylor County native.

She was a graduate of Taylor County High School and went on to get a bachelor’s degree in education from Florida State University.

After marrying, she moved with her husband to Atlanta and then New Jersey for his work, during which time she taught at various schools.

Following the birth of their child, Cheryl requested a more stable living situation with less moving, so the couple moved their family back to Perry where they opened Weiss Building Center.

Cheryl worked tirelessly alongside her husband until her retirement in 2015.

In retirement, the couple stayed side-by-side going for day trips to Destin or Jacksonville, or simply staying home and watching a movie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at First Presbyterian Church of Perry with the Rev. Larry Neal officiating. COVID precautions will be followed.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice.

All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
