While new COVID-19 cases have exploded in Florida over the past two weeks due to the rapidly-spreading Omicron variant, Taylor County has so far been spared from this latest surge, with cases actually dropping slightly over the same two-week period.
According to Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH) officials, there has been a higher positivity rate for influenza than COVID-19 so far this month, although the hospital remains prepared to act should Taylor County experience another surge like the one last summer associated with the Delta variant.
