Suit accuses Siegmeister of extortion

Former State Attorney Jeff Siegmeister, awaiting trial on federal charges of bribery, extortion and tax fraud, is now facing a lawsuit alleging he denied a Lake City man due process and conspired to extort some $60,000 from him.

Siegmeister’s co-defendant, Cross City attorney Michael O’Steen, is also named in the complaint and faces allegations of legal malpractice.
