Dredging project one step closer

Although the Taylor County Commission is technically one step closer to beginning its long-awaited dredging projects for Keaton Beach canals and the Steinhatchee boat ramp basin, exactly when the work will actually begin remains unclear due to uncertainty over the permitting process.

Last fall, the commission agreed to shift $1.5 million in RESTORE Act funding from a separate pot to the dredging projects to cover an unexpected shortfall.
