    Charles Lamar Spivey

    Charles Lamar Spivey, 81, of Waycross, Ga., passed away Jan. 3, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Douglas, Ga., born to the late C.L. and Wanell Wright Spivey. Charles was a carpenter by trade and a commercial boat captain. He loved fishing and went every time he got the opportunity. He made his way around the coastal areas, living at Horseshoe, Keaton Beach, Steinhatchee and Perry. He managed a campground and the people he met from all over the country returned over and over. He was a man who made friends easily, and folks returned because of his hospitality. Charles was always good-natured and met and made friends easily. Survivors include: four daughters, Donna Lanier, Pam Strickland, Kimberly Malone and Nancy Temple; three sons, Charles “Tony” Spivey Jr., Robert Spivey and Louis “Lou” Spivey; two sisters, Barbara Ann Gibbs and June McNeely; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is close friend, Wyndisue Murphy, and his fur baby, “Buckshot.” Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Harry T. Reid Funeral Home is in charge of immediate arrangements.
