    James Herman ‘Jimmy’ Woods

    Mr. James Herman Woods, better known as Jimmy to his family and friends, 88, passed away on Jan. 9, 2022, at Lafayette Health Care in Mayo.

    Jimmy was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Perry to Robert Herman Woods and Lessie King Woods.

    He attended and was a graduate of Taylor County High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War.

    Jimmy was of the Christian faith and attended the Perry Church of Christ.

    He was the owner and operator of two businesses which operated for many years, Woods Filling Station and Woods Scrap Metal.

    In his spare time he enjoyed playing and listening to bluegrass music.

    Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.

    He is survived by four generations of cousins, as well as numerous other family and friends.

    A graveside funeral service will be held today (Wednesday) at 11:30 a.m. At Carlton Cemetery with Brother Eric Russell officiating.
