Although new COVID-19 cases are rapidly rising both in Taylor County and across the state – widely attributed to the new Omicron variant — the speed at which cases are rising appeared to slow down last week when compared to the week before.
According to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health (DOH), there were 164 new cases of COVID reported in Taylor County during the seven-day period ending Thursday, Jan. 6. This was up from 106 cases reported the final week of 2021, but the jump of 58 cases from week to week was less than the 90-case jump from the week prior when just 16 cases were reported.
