COVID cases double to 361 in a week

With the COVID-19 Omicron surge now in full swing locally, cases in Taylor County more than doubled last week to 361, the second-highest weekly total reported since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.

The only week to have a higher number of new cases was Aug. 20-26, 2021, when there were 401 cases reported in Taylor County at the peak of the Delta surge.
