God called Clara Strickland Holman, 90, home on January 23, 2022, at 1:10pm.
Clara was born in Dixie Country and moved to Steinhatchee, Florida when she was four months
old.
Clara was predeceased in death by her infant son, Donnie Edwin Hamilton; parents
Braz and Mabel Carmichael; sister, Helen Files; brother, Gary Carmichael; grandson, Kristopher
Wayne Pridgeon; late husbands; Eddie Jacob Hamilton, Preston Ray Strickland, Harold Douglas
Holman.
Survivors include: brother; Richard Carmichael (Gwen) Steinhatchee, Florida, sister; Evelena
Whiddon, St. Johns Florida, sister; Gloria Versurah, Tampa Florida, Betty Green (late John
Green), Steinhatchee, Florida; Irene Grant, Orlando, Florida; Ed Hamilton (Ann), Winter Haven,
Florida; Bonnie Rooks (Eddie) Steinhatchee, Florida; Linda Bryant (Wayne) Steinhatchee, Florida
Step Children: Michael Strickland, Orlando; Stephen Strickland, Orlando; Teresa Kincaid,
Orlando. Debra Miller, Boone NC; Dorinda Bouboulis, Boone NC; Brenda Costner, Boone, NC
A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clara was a member of First Baptist Church and Fellowship Baptist Church during her years in
Steinhatchee. She enjoyed her family and all her friends that were like family as well. She
enjoyed fishing, reading, cooking and doing for others, beautiful flowers and plants, traveling,
shopping at her favorite little stores and watching all kinds of nature and birds on the
Steinhatchee River.
She worked for 17 years for the Property Appraiser, 3 years in Perry, Florida and 14 years in
Orlando, Florida retiring as Supervisor over N.A.L (Name, Address, Legal)
One of her proudest accomplishments while in Orlando was being voted “Woman of the Year”
for the American Business Woman’s Association and representing Orlando in San Juan Puerto
Rico.
She served as Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Steinhatchee Chapter of the AARP.
Clara was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” for 1998 for the Steinhatchee AARP.
She was Chairman of the first Feista in the Park (fundraiser for the community center building)
and ran the Country Store for years gifting scholarships with the proceeds.
Clara was elected to the Board of the Tri County Electric Co Op on Sept 17, 1994, and served
continuously as a trustee until Sept 15, 2012. Clara served the cooperative in the following
capacities for 18 years, Vice President of TCEC from Sept 2005 – Sept 2008, on the Board of
Directors of Florida Electric Cooperative Association from October 1994 to June 2006 and on
the Board of Trustees of Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. from June 2006 to September 2012.
Funeral and visitation service will be held at Waters Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Saturday,
January 29, 2022, at 1pm. Burns Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

City, Florida 32628. Please reference Clara Holman on memo on the check. Kristopher’s Kloset
is a ministry that serves all schools in Dixie County and Taylor at the Steinhatchee School.
Kristopher’s Kloset provides backpacks, jackets, shoes, socks, clothes and so many things to
help children that are in need.
There is nothing more Clara would want than to help another person and donate to her late
grandson Kristopher’s ministry.
