Liller Ellen Newberry

Liller Ellen Newberry, 74, passed away on Jan. 24, 2022.

She was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Perry to Harrison Connell and Flora Morgan Connell.

Liller loved spending time with her family, working in her flower beds and gardening, sitting on her back porch watching for redbirds, going to church and listening to gospel music.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Harrison and Flora Connell; two brothers, Lonnie Connell, and Chester Connell; and four sisters, L.E. Osteen, Louise Flott, Elmarie Mosley and Florene Courson.

She is survived by: her husband of 56 years, Grady Newberry; three children, Jeff Newberry and his wife, Karen, Laura Valentine and her husband, Dwayne, and Kristy Burford and her husband, Cliff; seven grandchildren, Courtney Ray, Jacob Newberry, Hanna Valentine, Jonah Newberry, Katie Ricketson, Chloe Newberry and Mason Burford; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Connell and Dairl Connell; and one sister, Edna Tillis; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Billy Gipson and Pastor David Stephens officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterward in Carlton Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home.
