    Rescue Act to fund sewer fix

    The City of Perry has opted to dip into its share of federal American Rescue Plan Act funds to pay for an estimated $175,000 sewer line repair project in a subdivision located off Highway 221 North.

    Aging sewer lines, crumbling mortar joints and leaky manholes combined with high water levels result in the city’s wastewater treatment plant filling up with large amounts of stormwater during heavy rainfall events, according to City Public Works Director Chester McAfee.
