    John T. Brady Jr.

    John T. Brady Jr. entered eternal life on Jan. 24, 2022.

    He was born in Havana on March 13,1940, to John Thomas Brady Sr. and Dora Strickland Brady.

    He graduated Havana High School in 1958. Immediately following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve, serving for eight years.

    He attended Lively Technical School and Tallahassee Community College.

    In 1965, he married the love of his life, Alice Graham. Together they had two sons, Chip and Danny.

    He had his priorities in order for life – faith, family and a hard work ethic.

    He was passionate about helping others. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard and garden, fishing on Lake Talquin and the surf at St. George Island and hunting – always included his family while doing these things.

    After a 30-plus year career with the State of Florida, he retired as a systems and programming manager with the Department of Education.

    He was an active church member throughout his life, most recently at the First United Methodist Church in Perry.

    He was a member of the Perry Masonic Lodge #123 and Greenville Masonic Lodge #28. He was also Past Master of Perry Masonic Lodge #123 in 2008 and served as treasurer for four consecutive years. He was past president of Perry Shrine Club. He was a member of Marzuq Shrine Temple in Tallahassee, and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star in Perry and Mayo where he served as Worthy Patron for the Perry chapter.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Jeanette Brady Davis; son, Danny Brady; and in-laws, Lewis and Hazel Graham-Alvarez.

    He is survived by: his wife of 56-plus years, Alice Brady; son, Chip Brady; daughter-in-law, Lisa Brady; granddaughter, Heather Brady; a nephew; and other family members.

    Graveside services are planned today (Wednesday) at Woodland Cemetery in Havana. Visitation will be from 1:30-2 p.m. Followed by the services at 2 p.m. with Masonic Rites to follow.

    Burns Funeral Home in Perry is handling the arrangements.
