    Clara Sue Padgett

    Clara Sue Padgett, a beautiful soul, passed away on Jan. 30, 2022, at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital in Perry.

    Sue was born on Dec. 18, 1930, in Mayo to John and Winnie Land Osteen.

    She was predeceased in death by: her parents; her husband, B. O. “Red” Padgett; her son, Eldon Hammock Jr.; her daughter, Connie Padgett Torres; her granddaughter, Mikaela Renee Padgett; her sisters, Dorothy Register, Emily Zimmerman, Jackie Taylor and Martha Jean Bennett; and her brothers, Connie Mack, John Kenneth, Jimmy Dale and Donald Wayne Osteen.

    She is survived by: her daughters, Zelda Rogers, Debbie Lilliott, Jan Walker and Angie Kelley (Mike); her son, Patrick Padgett (Melissa); her brothers, Sammy and Tommy Osteen; her sister, Janice Mantzanas; and her grandchildren, Wayne, Hud, Rebecca, Jennifer, Ashley, Kevin, Jesika, Stephanie, Jonathan, Morgan and Peyton.

    She also leaves behind 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly and who will carry on her legacy of love for years to come.

    Sue loved her family with her whole heart and being, and everyone she ever met was treated to that same caring love.

    She never met a stranger, loved unconditionally and judged no one.

    Her personality was one of strength, dignity and grace; always smiling, always singing and always making everyone feel loved. She also had a fierce love for the Florida State University (FSU) Seminoles, and she and Red enjoyed the games for decades together.

    Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Brother Dan Chaney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home.
