COVID cases drop by 42%

The Omicron COVID-19 surge appears to have finally peaked locally, after Taylor County reported the first week-to-week drop in new cases since December.

According to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health (DOH), there were 339 new cases reported during the seven-day period ending Thursday, Feb. 3. This was down from a record 584 cases the previous week – a drop of 41.9%.
