City Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton has proposed the city use its allotment of federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to help city customers offset a portion of utility fee increases adopted this past year.
At the city’s Jan. 25 meeting, Hampton suggested the city use federal COVID relief funds to credit city utility customers $10 per month for a year to lessen the impact of increases passed by the council in September 2021.
