Barn fire

Crews with Taylor County Fire-Rescue (TCFR) responded to a barn fire at a residence on Ira Smith Road in the northern part of the county on Wednesday.

“At 11:06 a.m., TCFR crews from Station 8 (Shady Grove) and Station 1 (Perry) were dispatched to a barn fire possibly spreading to nearby structures and vehicles,” said TCFR Chief Dan Cassel. “Crews arrived on scene to find the barn was involved with fire and a small grass fire was spotted approximately 100 feet away. The fire was quickly contained. Afterward, the crews remained on scene to overhaul the area to ensure the fire was completely out. Crews were released from the scene at 1:17 p.m.,” he added.
