Sidney Lee Murphy McCall Hilliard

Sidney Lee Murphy McCall Hilliard was born Nov. 15, 1935, in Steinhatchee and passed away Feb. 17, 2022, in Winter Haven.

She was raised in Steinhatchee and was a born-again Christian of Baptist Faith.

Sidney Lee would like you know that her work here is done. She received a call from her Lord and Savior where she has gone to see him face to face.

Sidney was a loving wife and mother, who never met a stranger.

She was a waitress at Roy’s Restaurant, in the early years, where she loved her customers. One of her favorite jobs was becoming a captain of a 110-foot boat, where she delivered supplies and crew to oil rigs.

She was preceded in death by: her mother Ethel V. Poppell Murphy Wood; father, Sidney Murphy; daddy, Wilton Wood; her stepbrother, Rudolph Wood; daughter Melanie Lee McCall Stewart; the father of her children, Glenn C. McCall; Husband Jim Hilliard; stepson, Myles Hilliard.

Sidney is survived by: sister, Corine Karageorge; daughters, “Tillie” Glenda Jean Montney (Rick), Tammie Baylor-Cowart (Shelton), Angie Bussey (Ray) and Sandra Hilliard Rogers; son, Jim Hilliard Jr. (Linda); 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She will be missed by other relatives and many friends who loved her.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Steinhatchee.
