David Lyle Maize, 83, passed away on Feb. 13, 2022, in Tallahassee.
He was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Pueblo, Colo., to Melvin Maize and Edith Emrick Maize.
David graduated from U.S. Grant High School in Portland, Ore., in 1957.
He attended North Florida Junior College, the University of Florida and the University of Northern Colorado, where he was an active participant in student government.
Mr. Maize served in the 39th Infantry Division of the United States Army in Fort Lewis, Wash., from 1959-1961.
David was an executive chef in restaurants along the east coast, from Maryland to Keaton Beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Edith Maize, and sisters, Mickey Hatleberg and Patricia Ketring.
Mr. Maize is survived by: two nephews, Kelly (Cindy) Clark of North Carolina and Clay Clark; a great-nephew, Dilan Clark; and a great-niece, Maicie Clark, all of Perry.
He is also survived by a beloved first cousin, Betty Patterson Del Sol of San Diego and her children, Kate Del Sol, Brenda Del Sol, Ellis Del Sol, Etienne Foote and Steve Del Sol.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
