Sex offender who shot deputy is killed during home invasion

A convicted sex offender suspected in the Tuesday night shooting of a Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputy is dead after being shot and killed while breaking into a Dixie County residence Wednesday morning.

Gregory Ryan Miedema, 33, was the subject of a statewide manhunt issued late Tuesday night after allegedly wounding TCSO Deputy Troy Anderson during a traffic stop around 9:30 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 19 South.
