    Posted on March 16, 2022

It is with deep sorrow to affirm the passing of Janice Faye Blair Johnson on March 4, 2022, after an extended illness.

The OG Baby Blair was born in Gainesville in 1953 to the late Eunice and L.D. Blair.

In 1956, her family relocated to Taylor County, the place her mother predicted the family would prosper.

Janice was a graduate of Lafayette County High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in human services from Saint Leo University.

Janice was of Pentecostal faith and often reminded us that “God Is Love.” She had the heart and hands of a servant for the Lord.

Janice was an advocate for social, economic, judicial and environmental equality, and truly lived by the virtue of all being created equal and that all of us are brothers and sisters in the eyes of God.

Janice is preceded in death by: her late husband, Dr. Herbert Johnson of Mayo; her parents, Eunice and L.D. Blair of Perry; and her brothers, Dowling “Chick” Blair, Donnie Blair, Rex Blair and Mikey Blair. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Louise O’Neal, Jo Christianson, Vera Vaughn and Syble Palmer.

Janice is survived by: her daughter, Ali Ashmead and her husband, David; her son, Nicholous Dykes; her granddaughter, Kalee Rowell; grandson. Trent Wolfe and his wife, Rylee; and great-grandsons, Triden and Ryett Wolfe; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved best!

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at Pineview Memorial Cemetery with Brother Cricket Watson officiating.
