    Frederick “Fred” W. Ogilvie

    Frederick “Fred” W. Ogilvie, 93, passed away on March 10, 2022, at his home in Perry with his family by his side.

    Fred was born May 25, 1928, in Greensboro, Fla., to Matthew Byrne Ogilvie and Emily Clifford Ogilvie.

    Mr. Ogilvie was a Baptist and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Perry.

    He received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Florida in 1950. He then enlisted and honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

    He then began working with Proctor & Gamble, retiring retired as the quality control manager after 40 years of service.

    Mr. Fred was a passionate Gator alumni and helped start the Taylor County Gator Club, where he served as a past president and treasurer.

    Frederick was preceded in death by: his son, Matthew Ogilvie; his parents, Matthew and Emily Ogilvie; his daughter-in-law, Catherine Ogilvie; and his sisters, Emily Agerton, Harriett Wagner and Jean Dean.

    Mr. Ogilvie is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Virginia W. Ogilvie; his daughter, Teresa (Tom) Hickenlooper; four granddaughters, Amanda (Michael) Moore, Candice Johnson, Kate Hickenlooper and Kim (John) Kosanke; and three great-grandchildren, Connor, Brennan and Zoe; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held on Monday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry with Pastor Joe Trofemuk and Pastor Steven Ruff officiating. Interment services were held privately after the service. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Perry.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association in Fred’s honor.
