Included in some last-minute language worked into the state budget passed on Monday, the Florida legislature has mandated that every employee working within a school district must make $15 an hour by Oct. 1 this year.
Some 154 non-instructional employees within the Taylor County School District will be impacted by the new requirement, resulting in a projected cost of over $1 million.
