    Posted on March 18, 2022

The Florida Legislature approved a new record-high $112 billion state budget on Monday that includes several direct allocations to Taylor County — none bigger than the $4.6 million earmarked for a major expansion and renovation of the Taylor County Jail.

Other specific allocations for Taylor County include $510,000 for improvements to the Taylor County Courthouse, $405,000 awarded to Big Bend Technical College’s (BBTC) nursing program and $289,000 earmarked for the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) to increase salaries among its deputies and correctional officers.
