U.S. 19 detour to avoid ‘void’

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is investigating a “void” underneath the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 in Perry near Super-Pufft Drive, causing the northbound lanes to remain closed. Drilling was expected to continue through the day on Tuesday, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Upon completion of the field investigation, the area will be covered with a steel plate and re-opened to traffic while FDOT engineers review the data and determine a corrective action. FDOT engineers will closely monitor the area until a corrective action can be implemented.
