    Posted on March 30, 2022

Bobbie Gene Thames, 85, passed away on March 27, 2022, at her home in Perry surrounded by her family.

She was born April 10, 1936, in Perry to Joseph Thomas Dixon and Bertha Lee Norris Dixon.

    Mrs. Thames was a Baptist.

Bobbie worked in the building maintenance department for Buckeye Cellulose for more than 25 years, where she had received training from the University of Florida as asbestos removal coordinator for the mill.

In her spare time she enjoyed the outdoors, working in her flower beds and fishing off the banks of local creeks and rivers. She was a strong-willed person who raised her children to be independent and able to provide for themselves.

There are too many instances of Bobbie doing things in background to help other people through difficult time and circumstances, and never expecting anything in return.

Bobbie was preceded in death by: her parents, Joseph Thomas Dixon and Bertha Lee Dixon; her sisters, Helen Kinsey, Nell Jackson and Vivian Collins; and her brothers, Buddy Dixon, Wayne Dixon, John L. Dixon and Donnie Dixon.

Mrs. Thames is survived by: children, Jim (Teresa) Pridgeon and Pam Pridgeon Mills, Ted Pridgeon and Sandra (Bill) Matthews; grandchildren, Chasity Tharpe Pridgeon, Summer Pridgeon, Hannah Pridgeon, Nina Pridgeon, Nikki Matthews, Kimberly Matthews and Taylor Matthews; and her sister, Tommie Whiddon; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at Carlton Cemetery with Brother Danny Lundy officiating.

All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry. Friends may sign the online guest book at www.joepburnsfuneralhomes.com.
