    Bluegrass festival April 1-2

    Posted on March 30, 2022

The 20th Florida State Bluegrass Festival & Chili Cook-off event will be held “rain or shine” this Friday and Saturday (April 1-2) at Forest Capital Park in Perry.

A truckload of MoonPies are hitching a ride from Chattanooga, Tenn., to be given out free to the crowd on Saturday by Taylor County’s own MoonPie Princesses and Bluegrass Sweethearts.

Headlining the event are bluegrass favorites Marty Raybon, Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike, David Adkins, Appalachian Road Show, Belle & the Band and many more.

“In addition to this power house line-up, we will have a free Kids Fun Zone, arts and crafts, all kinds of food vendors, including seafood, BBQ and much more. What started out as a one-day event with a few hundred attendees is now a nationally-recognized two-day event with thousands in attendance from all over the United States,” Coordinator Dawn Perez said.

“Best of all, the admission for local residents is free. Passes for out-of-town fans will be $35 for a weekend pass,” she said.

Stage music will start on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and end at 10:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the music will begin at 11 a.m. and will continue through the day until 10:30 p.m.

A “Gospel Sing & Jam” will be held on Sunday, April 3, at 10 a.m.

In the case of rain, the festival will be moved inside Forest Capital Hall, Perez said.
